TITLE:	Canadian Book Exchange Centre (CBEC)
DESCRIPTION:	"The Canadian Book Exchange Centre (CBEC) is a clearing-house service provided by the National Library of Canada, for the distribution and exchange of publications which are deemed surplus by some institutions but needed by others. The Centre was established in 1973 under the authority of the National Library Act to handle surplus library materials from federal departments and agencies, but the service is now extended to all Canadian libraries, documentation centres, institutions, organizations and associations. Since its inception the CBEC has received about 26 million publications and has distributed about 8 million. Of its holdings about 66 percent are periodicals, 21 percent Canadian official publications, 7 percent foreign official publications and 6 percent monographs."
