DESCRIPTION: "A PURL is a Persistent Uniform Resource Locator. Functionally, a PURL is a URL. However, instead of pointing directly to the location of an Internet resource, a PURL points to an intermediate resolution service. TITLE: WebSort for Windows 95
DESCRIPTION: A program for converting INNOPAC MARC lists to Web-viewable HTML files, is now available for free download from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas ftp site. "Websort for Windows is a Microsoft Windows program which accepts an Innovative Interfaces Inc. INNOPAC MARC list file as input, and breaks it into separate citation files according to criteria you specify. You can for instance create a MARC list in INNOPAC of all items cataloged during the past month, and use WebSort to create a separate file for each of the following categories: music scores, nonbook materials, architecture library holdings, etc. You can use holdings library codes, call number ranges, subject codes, and fund codes as your sorting criteria. WebSort can optionally add HTML coding as it sorts so that the resulting files are full HTML files ready for posting on a Web site. Requirements: A PC with a 386DX or higher processor, at least 4 MB of memory, and 2-5 MB of hard disk space are required. In addition, you will need whatever space the input and output files you create occupy. A 486 or faster and 8 MB of memory are _strongly_ recommended. Limitations: WebSort does not alphabetize or in any way reorder the files created; they will be output to the various output files specified in the order they occur in your source list. Only INNOPAC MARC format files have been tested for input. Documentation: A README.1ST file is provided in the zip file along with the program files. A full manual is also provided in Microsoft Word 2.0 format once the program is installed." Cannot get access to it lately.
