PENNSYLVANIA AND ALABAMA PUBLIC LIBRARIES IMPLEMENT CYBERSETTING INTERNET FILTER SOLUTION

Wireless Internet access filtering and multi-site filtering needs drive libraries to select CyberSetting in addressing CIPA and state government mandates.

Sewickley, PA - 05/01/05
- InfoWorks Technology, a leading innovator of library automation software, today announced that two public libraries, Adams Memorial Library in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and Homewood Public Library in Homewood, Alabama have recently implemented CyberSetting to provide Internet filtering functionality. “Libraries needing a filter solution to support their CIPA or state funding compliance initiatives want to minimize the impact on staff, patrons, and budget,” said Jesse Song of InfoWorks Technology. “Easily installing, administering, and temporarily disabling the filter are all key requirements, and finding an affordable solution that is designed to address the unique needs of the library environment can be challenging. CyberSetting answers this challenge, which sets it apart in the library market”.

Adams Memorial Library is another public library that has found CyberSetting advantageous in part due to its ability to provide the filtering functionality across multiple library sites through installation of a single system at one site. This capability helps to reduce system costs while simplifying system installation and maintenance.

Homewood Public Library is part of a growing trend in public libraries to offer wireless Internet access. This allows patrons to bring their own laptop computer into the library and have Internet access from anywhere within the library’s established wireless area. CyberSetting is able to easily and transparently extend the library’s filtering policy and functionality to include these mobile PCs, as is required by CIPA. Because there is no software to install on individual PCs, for Homewood Public Library, this capability was implemented in just minutes.
